Vicky is more than a doula, she very quickly became family and helped us both physically and mentally both before and after birth. Despite covid restrictions, Vicky was worth her weight in gold in advise from near and afar. Her experience with twins was paramount in helping us exclusively breastfeed which we are super proud of and grateful to Vicky for!

Vicky has been such an important part in our prenatal, birthing and postpartum experience. She is a wealth of knowledge and positivity. Throughout the entire process she has gone above and beyond to make sure we had the information we needed to be confident in our decisions about our birth and care. She continues to be an amazing support now that the baby has been born, helping with breastfeeding, postpartum care, and a generally fantastic resource. I don’t know what we would have done without her by our side along the way. Especially during these uncertain and challenging times, she is priceless. Hope it works. Thank you again for all your support and guidance!

I can't tell you how much more prepared and assured both my husband and i feel about the impending birth of our first baby. As you know it is such a daunting thought and made particularly harder in a foreign country and different language but after your classes we feel 100% more prepared than we did beforehand. You have changed our mindset to think about all those formally scary things like contractions, water breaking and pain in to positive aspects that we are capable of conquering. You really are fantastic at what you do and a true gem for all Barcelona mum and mum's to be! Thank you! Love, Erin and Kane

Hello! My name is Togzhan, I’m 33 and I am a mother. The last part is the most pleasant to write about myself. Firstly, because I’ve been waiting for my baby way longer than 40weeks but rather last several years , secondly it’s a great pleasure of all pleasures to be a mother in spite of all possible difficulties or worries. In fact, one of the biggest challenge is the beginning of that journey-Delivery. I’ve started preparing myself before the date psychologically and physically and to make the process more informing I did a research on “doula service” and it was one of the luckiest thing in my life to find doula Vicky in Barcelona. Being a foreigner with little Spanish plus low knowledge in healthcare of new country it’s not easy to get maximum of a comfort for pregnant lady. However with Vicky the whole process was much more pleasant and most important it gave me confidence and security. My husband and I went through special classes before delivery where we were trained and tutored from the scratch with all necessary information without counting her own time. She is trained and experienced in childbirth and is mother herself. She has a good knowledge and awareness of female physiology. She works on keeping birth normal and empowering, and though my birth become complicated and required medical assistance, she still remained by my side and gave confidence and assisted us through the decision making process and provided balanced information on the situation. Her knowledge of three languages and fluent understanding of my accent was a bonus. She became my friend who gave me support and belief in myself even after birth when I faced some problems with lactation and child care. She instructed but let my own intuition do the job and was helping me to listen and trust it more. My husband was skeptical in the beginning to use a doula service but after all he appreciated it the most. Vicky has amazing personality, her sincerity and kindness is limitless and she will stay in my heart forever. Thank you!

When looking for a Doula my main aim was to find someone to speak Catalan or Spanish for us at the birth, I wasn’t really sure we needed one for anything else… After a recommendation from a friend we met Vicky when I was about 20 weeks pregnant. When discussing the birth she made me feel relaxed about hospitals, methods, possibilities and also explained her own experiences. Walking away from that first meeting I already felt happier and more relaxed about dealing with pregnancy and childbirth in Barcelona. Things all went a bit mental at 28 weeks (6 months) pregnant. I was admitted to hospital for 3 weeks with preterm labour and other complications. I was in our private hospital, Clinca Corachan. Vicky visited 2-3 times every week, helping with the language barrier and bringing me essentials and snacks. She was incredibly thoughtful and considerate. Luckily baby Oscar decided to wait a bit longer. When I was released from hospital at 31 weeks pregnant I was put on strict bedrest – no activity except showers – and told he could come anytime! Vicky visited regularly, even bringing pasta dishes to help George. She said wonderful things that kept me so positive and reminded me to work on one day at a time. As the weeks passed at home we realised that i may actually hold Oscar until he was full term! Vicky then helped me switch to the public health service as they would suit my natural birth wishes more than the private insurance service. Vicky also then gave us private Antenatal classes at home because I couldn’t get out to her classes. At 38 weeks, after months of crossing my legs, we were told that I needed to be induced due to mild preeclampsia. We met Vicky at the hospital about 5pm, labour started at 6pm and Oscar had arrived by 1.30am! Vicky was there from start to finish, she was my guiding light through the quick and intense birth. She translated the midwifes and ensured George knew what was happening whilst encouraging his involvement. She kept me focused and breathing correctly, because of her support I managed the labour with only gas and air as pain relief. After the birth Vicky also helped me breastfeed with no pain or soreness, she taught me various positions and how to get a correct latch, and Vicky helped us with our extensive paperwork and appointments to get Oscar registered. It is impossible to put a value on Vicky’s work, she has been a lot more than a translator! She has supported us though 3 crazy months, at the birth of our first child and I hope she will remain a friend now. She has been my guardian angel, I felt determined, positive and strong throughout a difficult pregnancy and an intense birth, and for this, more than anything else, we thank Vicky. She will always have a place in our family’s lives. We hope that many people get to share Vicky’s wealth of knowledge and kindness, we recommend her highly to all expecting couples. Huge love and thanks The Lanham Family xx

When I became pregnant I started to look for doula in Barcelona. We are foreigners and my husband travels a lot because of his work. I was afraid that he might not be able to be around on time in case I give the birth earlier. What a huge relief when I found Vicky’s website. Vicky was great support from the beginning. She is very energetic, happy and friendly person. It is easy to recognise that she is experienced and loves her job very much. I can not thank her enough for her help during my pregnancy and also after the birth. When we had any doubts I was always confident to contact her knowing she is going to help us. During my last weeks of pregnancy my husband worked a lot. It was really nice to know that there is a person I could rely on and I am not alone if something happen. As we are already planing to have another baby I can definitely say that we will contact Vicky again.

We took Vicky’s prenatal classes and also hired her as our doula. Without a doubt, I wouldn’t have accomplished a natural, drug-free 17-hour labor without Vicky’s help. She and my husband made the perfect team and I felt 100% supported every minute of my labor. Not only did Vicky help make sure I was as comfortable as possible, she acted as a liaison with the hospital staff, which was very helpful considering I don’t speak perfect Spanish. She was also instrumental in helping with breastfeeding in the days after giving birth. If you’re aiming for a natural birth, Vicky should be part of your plan! Giselle Timmerman As the husband in this whole affair, I really appreciated the support we received from Vicky. She was really flexible with us during the prenatal class as we had some travel plans that interfered with the regular schedule. Perhaps what I was most appreciative of was the fact that Vicky really made me feel included in the whole process. During the birth especially, Vicky really helped me be there for my wife, making sure that I could stay focused on her, and not the distractions of our surroundings. She also made sure I was fanning, massaging, watering, etc…. my wife correctly. Thanks Vicky! Julian Timmerman

We found Vicky via her website and after our first time meeting with her knew that we had not only found a Doula but also a great new friend. Both of us felt so comfortable talking to her we had no doubt of using her services during the pregnancy and delivery. The morning after giving birth to Aiden Vicky came to visit us (bringing delicious treats), giving us some great tips and suggestions and to help us complete the paperwork for the birth certificate (she even offered to join us to register Aiden!) We can highly recommend using her services. She is not only a very knowledgeable Doula but also a great person.

Vicky is energetic and warm-hearted and I immediately felt that I can trust her. I can definitely recommend having a doula not only for birth support, but especially for postpartum support.
